Constipation refers to bowel movements that are infrequent or hard to pass.
A condition in which there is difficulty in emptying the bowels .
Symptoms :
- Difficulty in having a bowel movement
- Infrequent bowel movements fewer than 3 a week and often a lot less
- Longstanding , Long sitting, Bed bound & chair bound people are prone to constipation.
- Back pain, Abdominal pain
- Swollen abdomen
- Being sick
- Explosive diarrhea or leaking diarrhea
- Feeling dizzy, sweating
- high temperature
- racing heart
- Confusio
Treatment :
- Drink plenty of fluids (8 glasses a day for adults/ 2-3 liters minimum )
- Eat a diet rich in fruit, dried fruit, vegetables- broccoli, beans, wholegrain bread, wholegrain cereals, nuts, and other fiber rich foods and olive oil.
- Apples, pears, grapes, cucumber, tomatoes etc. (Wash before eating).
- Set time every day to sit on the toilet for at least 10 minutes whether you feel like it or not.
- Never ignore a signal to go and follow signals of bowel. ( do not stop the urge )
- Reduce stress in your life .
- Massage the large intestine externally daily in a clockwise direction
- Laxatives- ispaghula or pysllium husk.
- Colon cleansing - Triphala powder/juice ( Indian Gooseberry,
Belleric Myrobalan and Chebulic Myrobalan ) safe to use - as needed.
